Define the Services you Want to Offer
You need to decide what kind of a professional person you want to be. The more services you offer the public, the less of an expert in any one of them you become. You may think you're a master of everything, but your clients will have a different opinion. The more focused you become, the more easily it become for your clients and the public to perceive you as an expert. You need to decide if you want to become an expert, a generalist (Jack of all trades) or something in between. You need to define what kind of professional person you want to be.
Next you need to decide what services you want to offer and how you want to offer them. The easiest way to do this is to decide what your specialty will be and then incorporate the other things you want to do into that profession. If you want to be a biofeedback expert that does aromatherapy, homeopathy, naturopathy and nutrition, you might be perceived as a scattered person without a vision. But if you were a nutritionist that used biofeedback, homeopathy, naturopathy and aromatherapy as part of your nutrition business you might be perceived as a nutrition expert. It's all about what you want to do and how you you want to be perceived by the public.
Caution 1: Attempting to sell your clients on a MLM scheme is one of the quickest ways to turn off your customers and guarantee a low rate of repeat business. If you want to build a MLM business, then make that your priority. If you want to build a biofeedback business you need repeat customers. You need satisfied customers who will send you their friends and acquaintances. You need free work of mouth advertising for your biofeedback business.
If you want to build your own MLM down line while you're building your biofeedback business, the smartest thing to do is to refer your clients to your MLM down line Let your down line build your MLM business on the leads you give them. Everybody wins.
Caution 2: If you live in a state or province that licenses medical naturopaths and/or medical homeopaths, it's risky to be a classical homeopath or naturopath and a biofeedback professional. It's hard enough being a classical naturopath or homeopath in the first place. There's a very fine line between practicing medicine without a license and practicing classical homeopathy or naturopathy. If you make any diagnosis of anything as you are taught to do, you are vulnerable to attack by the medical profession. If you make any suggestions, recommendations or give any advice about food, supplements or nutrition as you were taught to do, you are at risk for being charged with practicing medicine, nutrition or counseling without a license.
One solution is to become a homeopath or naturopath and work closely with the medical community. Then biofeedback is one of the tools you use in your practice. Another solution is to form a network of supportive people and refer your nutritional concerns out to one of your network. Another solution gaining in popularity is to become a legally licensed spiritual healer through a spiritual healer license board accredited by the Federation of Spiritual Healer Licensing Boards. You also have the option to put your homeopath or naturopath education on the shelf for the time being while you build your practice.
Caution 3: Unlicensed nutritionists are a target of medical, chiropractic, counseling and nutritional license boards and the dietician registration board. There is a very strong movement to allow only registered dieticians to become licensed as nutritionists. Both the medical community and the registered dieticians appear to be spearheading this movement. In those states that license nutritionists, practicing any form of nutrition without a license is hazardous.
One solution is to work with a licensed chiropractor you know and trust who is a nutritional expert. Another is to find a licensed nutritionist that believes in alternative medicine and nutrition instead of hospital food. Becoming a licensed spiritual healer is also an option.
Form a Supportive Network or Become a Subcontractor
There are literally hundreds of different modalities and professions that can help people heal themselves. Find a few highly respected professionals in these alternative therapies and form a supportive network where all of you can refer your clients to each other. If you find somebody is not reciprocating, sever that relationship. In a supportive network every member is there to support every other member with referrals.
This concludes our short discussion of complementary therapies except to list the kinds of complementary therapies you may want to consider: acupressure, auricular therapy, aromatherapy, color therapy, crystal bowl therapy, crystal therapy, enzyme therapy, homeopathy, hot rock therapy, hydrocolonic therapy, hypnotism, naturopathy, nutrition, reflexology, sound therapy and tuning fork therapy. This is a very partial list. Look around your community. You're sure to find professions not listed here that may be very helpful to you as you build your business.
